How to use your coffee break to earn money & giftcards with Swagbucks.
My guide to earning daily swagbucks for less than 10 minutes a day.
From selling your unwanted items, taking surveys, and also cash back from online shopping, there’s a variety of options out there to earn a bit of extra cash on the internet.
I have personally been using Swagbucks for the past 5 years, and for approximately 5-10 minutes a day, you can gain a few ‘bucks’ (known as SB) that can eventually be cashed in for money or gift cards.
In the morning, my routine is to sit down with a cuppa and head over to the Swagbucks website, it doesn’t take too long to earn a bit to add to my growing total.
There a few ways of earning daily, here is what I do:
On the homepage, there is a daily “to-do” list…
- Daily poll
answer a fun little poll, this could be a silly question, or something more relevant to the day. – this awards 1SB
- Daily “Crave“
Swagbucks partners up with ‘N-crave’, this involves watching either 3 x 30 second videos, or sometimes 2 x 1 minute videos .. you usually have to keep your mouse on that page or the countdown timer may pause… this awards 1 SB
- Daily Search
Swagbucks have their own internet search box through their website (powered by Yahoo I believe) – if you swap it for your usual search engine, every time you use it, you have a random change of gaining SB in the form of a “Swagbucks Bill” – it will announce how much you’ve won, and ask to enter a 3 letter CAPTCHA to collect it – it can award any amount of swagbucks,
– the largest I’ve managed to earn before via search is 100SB!As a bonus to the search feature, sometimes Swagbucks do a special “collectors bill” where the search picture on the bill will have a theme, (sports, seasonal etc) and if you manage to collect the “set” of bills you can gain extra SB.
(Currently at the time of writing this post, they have just ended a set of “Candy Collectors bills” – as you can see I didn’t manage to collect the set, but earned 2/6 of the special bills via the search option)
You can also include their search engine through your browsers search box, so you don’t even need to go back to their main page every time you want to perform a search.
- Daily Watch
This is where you can watch a set of videos to earn 1 – 3 SB (depending on the length of the playlist) – I usually choose a smaller 4/5 minute set for 1SB… but you can watch a longer one if you have time, or even watch a few if you feel like it.TIP: if you keep an eye on the playlist it’ll come up with a tick ✅ once the video you’re watching is accepted as “watched” and can quickly move onto the next without watching the video all the way through – this can save a few minutes !
- Daily Discover
This usually takes you to a “featured offer” page – this may have some free items but they mostly take you to offers that ask you to sign up to a list or make a purchase for a larger SB reward – I tend to stay away from this as I don’t usually have a need for these.
- Attempt a Gold Survey
Swagbucks partner up with some survey providers and will advise you how long a survey is for what reward of SB you’d get… some of these surveys are really good, I’ve had ones about upcoming movies and food products before. However sometimes you can get “screened out” at any time which can be annoying…There may be times when you complete a survey and not get a credit – so you might have to raise a ticket to get your SB – this is rare, but if it does happen the completed survey won’t apply to your daily “to do” list unfortunately..
By attempting a survey you’ll get a 1SB reward on the daily to-do list
- Deal of the Day
By clicking the deal of the day link from the main “to do” list, it’ll either take you to a specific deal (possibly an external website) or a list of current deals – you don’t need to buy anything or do anything other than click the link to earn 1SB
- Complete a gold survey
If you managed to complete a gold survey with no problems (99% of the time there isn’t a problem) you’ll get an extra 1SB from the daily to-do list
That is an easy way to earn a few SB daily, if you manage to complete 6/8 tasks you will get an additional bonus (from 1 – 4 SB). Complete 8/8 and you’ll get a bigger bonus!
As another additional daily task, at the top of the home page, is a counter of how many SB you have earned per day. Swagbucks gives you a “Daily Goal” to achieve .. (not mandatory mind you) … but if you hit the target, they’ll give you a bit more for a bonus
For example, today they’re challenging me to earn 40 SB, if I do, I’ll get an additional 4 SB…
(I usually hit a daily target if I complete a survey)
As you can see it says “Goal 1” – If you hit this goal, they then give you an additional target for a bigger bonus..!
Every bonus you earn gets credited at the beginning of the month (there is a May Bonus on mine), so don’t forget to redeem it monthly!
How much you can earn daily is really up to you, and how much time you want to invest in gaining SB
When you have a good total, you can redeem your SB for a variety of rewards, such as cash (paid into a Paypal account), or gift cards. (You can also save them up for gifts, products or a charity donation if you wish).
I tend to save mine for amazon.co.uk giftcards, I redeem them usually at £5 at a time… as the £5 card is usually on sale, and the multiples of £5 don’t tend to be cheaper overall.
Currently they have it on sale for 700SB rather than the standard price of 849SB – it has gone to a lower price in the past …
Now you may be thinking, 700SB? that seems like a lot of effort for such a small amount … well let me tell you that although it seems like a lot, for a few minutes a day, it soon adds up quickly.
There are lots of other ways to earn Swagbucks as well, but I will go into that in a later post…
