Ice Cream Day!!
I scream, You scream, We all scream for Ice Cream!
July 19th is National Ice Cream Day, it is also National Hot Dog Day – but Ice Cream is much more tasty and interesting to write about…(sorry hot dog lovers, maybe next year!)
July 19th is also my Mums birthday – Happy Birthday Mum!
If you saw my last “national day” post about Piña Colada Day, you’ll know that there are some weird (but some yummy) days lurking out there, but Ice Cream Day is one that I can get on board with.
Here in the UK, we don’t have a lot of dedicated places that you can go to get some quickly, there’s not a lot of Ice Cream “Parlours” around.
The main source (at least in our house), comes from the supermarket, not that we tend to have a lot in the freezer anyway… only really on hot days when an ice cream is essential!
Then there’s Ice Cream Vans. You know that summer is here when you hear the tinkle of Greensleeves outside on the street, although it has been known for one to appear outside on a cold March day…
I don’t really have a “favourite” flavour of ice cream. When it comes to Ben & Jerry’s, I tend to go for Phish food, but even though that is a chocolate flavour, I’m not a fan of chocolate ice cream (confused? me too!)
I would normally go for vanilla – some say vanilla is boring and plain, but to me, it is a classic, and if you get a really nice one, it can make up for the lack of ‘pizzaz’ and extras.
How about you? What will you be eating this “Ice Cream Day?”
Plain vanilla? Something fruity like strawberry? A fancy sundae? or something else like a non-dairy or sorbet?
